Northern Grande-Terre

Between cliffs, history and ocean horizons

Set out to explore the North of Grande-Terre, one of the wildest and most spectacular regions of the island. This Guadeloupe excursion takes you through dramatic cliffs, iconic natural landmarks and history-rich sites.

The day begins with a visit to the famous Morne-à-l'Eau cemetery, renowned for its unique black-and-white checkerboard architecture. We then continue to the ruins of a former sugar plantation, a testament to the island's agricultural heritage.

The scenery becomes truly breathtaking as we reach the northern cliffs, home to two must-see sites:

  • La Porte d'Enfer, a natural arch sculpted by the ocean
  • La Pointe de la Grande Vigie, the northernmost point of Guadeloupe offering a stunning view over the Atlantic

Lunch is enjoyed in a peaceful natural setting at Anse Maurice, at the foot of the cliffs. The afternoon is dedicated to exploring Petit-Canal, a landmark site in Guadeloupean memory, with its monuments dedicated to the abolition of slavery.

An unmissable Grande-Terre excursion to discover an authentic side of Guadeloupe, where breathtaking landscapes meet historical memory.
